Feeling disconnected…

Filed under: Commissioned Works, Morning Musings — jackie @ 9:09 am

Good morning readers.

It’s scarey how dependent I have become on having Internet access. Occassionally our service will go out (for mysterious reasons unknown) and when it does I feel really lost. This morning was one of those times. I tried to keep myself busy with other things but I felt so disconnected. :(

Of note this morning:

Rhonda of the My Handbound Books blog has put together a nice little tutorial on paper grain.

Here are a few photos of a guestbook that I recently created for a photographer friend of mine for one of his clients. It has a really elegant red fabric with an embossed heart pattern on it. I have used the fabric in the past for another project and had enough left over for a few smaller projects. The book looks much more elegant in person.

Here is a closeup of the cover fabric. It’s still hard to see the hearts in the photo.

An inside spread…

I wanted something different for the endpages so I created some by sandwiching a layer of Japanese tissue with plain white paper and left the deckle edge of the tissue hand over the paper edge slightly.

I hope everyone has a great day.

  1. Jackie,

How do you cover your boards with the fabric - PVA, paste, interfacing? I’ve just started working with fabric covers with not-so-great results…

    Any advice you can share?

    Thanks,

    Natalie
