In love again, naturally…

Filed under: Book Bags, Morning Musings — jackie @ 9:19 am

Good morning readers.

Yesterday was a day of going to the farmers market, the grocery store, making fish tacos with homemade tortillas and watching movies all afternoon. Basically I was kind of lazy all day.

So, I’m watching the movie Catch and Release and Jennifer Garner’s character has this cool looking messanger bag on her shoulder for a good two thirds of the movie.

I’m such a bag wh*re. Everytime I get a new bag and think “this it it I found the perfect bag” another bag will catch my eye and before I know it I’m enamoured and I just have to have it.

Screen grab from Catch and Release

I now have a big crush on that bag and since there is probably no way to track one down I’m going to attempt make my own bag in a similar style. I’ve been searching around for messenger bag patterns but will probably make my bag more like a schoolbag.

It will be made of canvas instead of leather like the one in the movie and it will have leather or cloth trim. The bag will have two pockets on the front with velcro closures and a leather carrying strap with buckles like the one in the movie. I’ve even thought of buying a canvas messanger bag from the Army Navy store and reworking the whole thing but I think it will be easier to start from scratch. I’ll keep you posted on my progress.

Of note…

Check out the web site of caligrapher and book artist Beth Lee. There are examples of some of the beautiful books that she has made.

I hope everyone has a great day.

  1. … did you already sneak a peek on http://en.dawanda.com/category/142-Bags-Purses ?
I especially adore the ones from “East-Haven” … though the pearly ones wouldn’t fit my style at all, but they’re so beautiful … http://en.dawanda.com/shop/the-easthaven

  2. Did you by change ever figure out who made the bag from ‘Catch and Release’ or find a comparable pattern to make one?
