Saturday morning musings…

Filed under: Morning Musings — jackie @ 11:23 am

Good morning readers.

It’s overcast here today and I think the weather folks are calling for rain early this afternoon then it’s gonna clear up. Good thing, as I’m going to help a friend shot a wedding this afternoon and I understand that the church isn’t the best for indoor shots. It did clear up a bit yesterday and the lawn boy showed up so I am spared from cutting the grass yet another week. :o

Under the “it’s a small world” heading this week…

My friend Holly spent the past two weeks visiting Finland. She and the people she was staying with visited Helsinki and then visited Estonia. While she was there she came upon a shop that sells handmade books and purchased one for me. I looked up the binder, Pille Kivihall, on the web and found a post by Rachel over at Fade Theory describing her visit to a local bookbinder and subsequent lessons with the binder that made the book my friend brought back for me. (Rachel, tell your teacher one of her books made it back to Virginia. ) Holly said what she liked most about buying a book from the shop was the way that they packaged them. I wish I could show it to you but I couldn’t get it back the same way after opening it. :)

Here are photos of my book. I love the lips on the cover.

And especially these on the spine. Looks like teeth doesn’t it?

I hope everyone has a great day.

  1. Pretty great, huh? I’ve just sent Pille an email, and I’m sure she’ll be thrilled!

  2. Hi, did you ever find out any more about that bookbinder from Tallinn, Estonia? I am going there this summer and would love to look her up. Is there any contact info for her? (Love the lips book!)
Thanks… hope this isn’t too old so you don’t see it.
