Thursday musings…

Filed under: Morning Musings — jackie @ 4:03 pm

Good  afternoon readers.

I def. wasn’t the main attraction at the school art festival yesterday. :) There was a glass worker and a wood turner that were demonstrating that had crowds of kids around them the whole time. The Origami guy was also popular because he was showing them how to fold shapes. I wasn’t prepared to have them doing any hands on items.  Next time I’ll have to have supplies for them to sew little pamphlets.

Here are a few photos of my display.

A site of note this afternoon…Traci, a new member of the Book Arts Forum, posted a link to this great tutorial on making a traditional book by Dave the Designer.

Also of note…an article on the bookbindery in Colonial Williamsburg with a nice little slideshow. I’ve been trying to figure out what I wanted to do for my birthday next week. Now I’m thinking I’d like to go up to CW and visit the bindery (it’s only 45 mins from here) and get some gingerbread cookies from the bakery…mmmmm.

I was cleaning off my bookshelves and found that I have two copies of The Bookbinder in Eighteenth-Century Williamsburg. One is fairly old and the other I got last time I was there. I think they print them in the print shop which is in front of the bindery. The first person to shoot me an email can have my extra copy. The extra copy is off to Kate in Idaho in the morning.

Bind on…
