Sunday musings and coffee…

Filed under: Morning Musings — jackie @ 9:00 am

Good morning readers.

Today in Virginia Beach it’s bright and sunny but also windy and a bit chilly. It’s also Sunday and the end of the week or…perhaps the beginning of the week for some. Sunday has always been a little bittersweet for me as, back in my “going to the office” days, it was the last day of my time at home to enjoy family and play with my art supplies and the beginning of my upcoming week “stuck” in a cubicle. I admire folks who go to an office to work everyday. I did it for over 25 years. I am thankful to now have the opportunity to work from home and do what I love.

A site of note this morning…fade theory. From the site: fade theory is a blog about books, inside and out: print culture, textual history, book arts, publishing news, reading and literacy, typography, and text-related design.

I’ve been surfing sites about book self publishing this morning as I’m close to publishing a book of my own. I’ve gone back and forth as to whether or not to offer it as a hard copy book or as a PDF. I will most likely go with the latter as it is in keeping with the idea of “going green” and it gets the information out to folks immediately after purchase.

I’m also toying with the idea of creating a few small videos to go along with my tutorials. Not that I want to see myself on tape but I think that a video would make the techniques even clearer to someone who is more of a visual learner.

Speaking of videos…for those of you interested in the Springback binding, I believe Peter Goodwin and Janette Heffernen will be stopping by the forum and will be answering any questions you have about his videos and the techniques presented in them.

Don’t forget that the Travel Journal challenge is going on now through the end of the month. I’m looking forward to seeing what you all come up with.

I hope everyone has a great day.
