Sunday morning musings…

Filed under: Morning Musings — jackie @ 7:47 am

Good morning readers.

The weather here in Virginia Beach is sunny and spring like. Makes me start thinking about getting out to take new flower photos to use on my cards and books.

Thought I’d share this tutorial blog on leather work. I love this person’s carved leather book covers. He’s also got these neat little gadget tutorials. Makes me miss our local Tandy leather store. We had one here for years then then corporate closed it down in favor of mail order shopping.  I love mail order/Internet shopping but some things you just have to touch and smell before you buy. Well…ok I do buy leather over the Internet but if I could touch and smell it first I would buy more. (David, if you’re listening, do you think you could firgure out how to get scratch and sniff on your website? :o )

So, yesterday I said that I would post links about learning opportunities for a while. I think workshops and retreats are great ways to jump start your creativity. Here in Hampton Roads we are lucky enough to have  the Art & Soul retreat coming in May . I haven’t decided if or what class I want to take but I need to decide soon. I’d love to hear what everyone is doing this summer as far as workshops or classes. There’s a discussion going over on the Book Arts Forum. Come on over and join in.

I’m off this afternoon to our local Little Theater to see the latest production and shoot some stage photos afterwards.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

  1. I met you last weekend at Jerry’s and promised I would send you an article about some book binders who had the opportunity to repair a medieval Bible. Unfortunately, I’ve looked for it for over a week and haven’t been able to find it. I didn’t want you to think I’d forgotten about you, although how I could forget someone who is going to teach me how to bind books is not possible. Anyway, I found a pamphlet titled Basic Bookbinding: Materials and Techniques that was written by someone from the SCA in 1996. I will bring it to you on Sunday, April 1. Looking forward to Sunday…
