Good morning readers.

Yesterday was an exciting day. We had a bunch of new member signups over on the Book Arts Forum. If you signed up please post a little bit about yourself in the Welcome Wagon board.

A few folks have commented about there already being a few other book arts lists in place such as the Bookbinding Group over on Yahoo and the Book Arts-L listserv. Both have been around a while and both are excellent resources which you should check out. My idea isn’t to compete with or take anything away from these lists, but to offer the book arts community another resource for information and networking within the community. The book and paper arts community has grown by leaps and bounds over the past few years and I’d love to see it grow even bigger.

A couple of sites of note this morning.

The Guild of Bookworkers has thier travelling exhibition online. You can also check thier schedule and find out where you can view the exhibition.

The Victoria Arts Connection in Victoria, BC has a show titled Art of the Book which runs in conjunction with The Pacific festival of the Book 2007. From the site “More than 50 artists from across Canada are participating in the Art of the Book. Works range from book cover designs to original art used for book covers as well as art inspired by lilterature, hand made books, conceptual and installation work and performance.”

Don’t forget to send me your name for entry into this Friday’s prize drawing. We still have another week and a half of celebrating our one year anniversary around here.

  1. The forum promises to be an outstanding resource! I belong
to several listservs (personal and professional) and they
are not nearly as comprehensive as a forum has the potential to be.
Thanks for building the forum as I know it is a tremendous amount
of work to develop something like this.
