Good morning readers.

It’s definately fall here in the southland. The weather is cool and clear and the morning sky has a beautiful glow to it.

I am frequently asked by photographers if they know of any binders in their area who would be willing to work with them to create custom albums for their clients as they want something unique. I have a few binders that I can reccommend but some photographers would prefer to work with someone closeby that they can meet with in person.

I have decided to revamp my photographers resource page to include a list of binders who are interested in working with photographers in their area to create custom wedding albums, guestbooks, boxes etc. for their clients. The list will be by setup by country/state and will be a free resource for both binders and photographers.

Also, there are only a few more spaces left for my Flush Mount Album workshop. It’s a great opportunity to learn the process in a hands on workshop setting.

about my Grandma’s age. She is not 98, she’s 99 today. Besides her eyesight, she gets around pretty well. I don’t get to see her nearly as much as I should being that she is only a couple of hours away.

I’ve been pondering my next foray into the world of bookbinding tutorial writing and am wondering what is the best medium to use for it’s creation. I’m considering some video tutorials instead of ones that can be printed.

So, my question to you dear readers is do you learn better from books or videos? I’m a book person myself. I enjoy watching videos but don’t like having to go put the video in and find a certaing part when I am working on a project. I prefer to have a book or some type of printed instructions to hand when I need them.

Also, what do you think about online classes as opposed to being in a classroom with an instructor?

It’s been a cool and rainy Labor Day holiday here in the southland. Instead of burgers and hot dogs on the grill we’re having chilli and cornbread.

Exciting news…I am the featured artist over on the Billie’s Craftroom Blog this month!

A brand new swap has been announced over on the Book Arts Forum. This time it’s girdle books hosted by Buechertiger. Along with the swap information she has posted a number of great links to information and photos of girdle books.

I have also posted a pamphlet book swap for beginners and anyone that finds the girdle books a bit intimidating. This swap will be a quick turnaround swap. Sign up over on the forum by Sept. 15, have books in the mail by Oct. 1.

Speaking of fall..besides spring, it’s the other time of the year when I feel like slowing down and cleaning out things in my life that don’t add to it so it was fitting when I came across this article by Dr. Wayne Dyer titled Sweep It Clean, Inside & Out 12 ways to simplify your life and set your spirit free! posted over on Teesha Moore’s blog.

According to Starbucks fall is officially here. They have started offering their pumpkin spice lattes again. Yummmm……

I know it’s not officially fall but the last few days sure have felt like it. I’ve been rummaging through my knitting books and dreaming of cozy handmade sweaters and socks and hot soup and bread.

Since I am feeling in the fall mood, I am going to have a little giveaway. A while back I made some of these little canvas covered books printed with photos I had taken of the fall colors in the mountains of Virginia. I still have a few of them. They are the ones on the right in this photo.

To enter my little giveaway all you need to do is leave me a comment and tell me about a favorite fall tradition that you have or what your favorite thing about fall is. On the evening of Sept. 15 (my Grandmas 98th birthday) I’ll put everyone’s name in a hat and have my lovely assistant draw one.

It’s actually cool and overcast here in the Southland this morning. My mind has started to wander with thoughts of fall things such as hot soup, handmade sweaters, boots and lots of bookmaking.

Hopefully I will be able to graduate in December and will take the winter off from attending classes to be able to concentrate on my artwork. I’m actually looking forward to hibernating in my studio this winter and getting lots of stuff done.

If you haven’t been over and checked out the Book Artists and Poets podcast get thee over there asap. I had to go out of town this past weekend and listened to many hours while driving of inspiring interviews with book and paper artists from around the country. Makes you want to run to your studio and start making things.

The Book Arts forum is starting up a new book swap for fall. Beginners are always welcome to participate. Don’t be shy. We all were beginners once.
