Sunday morning coffee, musings and surfing…

Filed under: Morning Musings — jackie @ 9:03 am

Good morning readers.

Yesterday’s demo at Jerry’s was more productive than I thought it was going to be. I signed a few people up for my next class on Dec. 9. If anyone is interested, I’ll be doing a series of little books perfect for holiday gift giving. I didn’t have any readers stop by and collect their gifts but you all do have two more chances. I’ll be at the Jerry’s “Meet the Artists” night on Nov. 30 from 6-9pm and I’ll be doing another demo on Dec. 16 from 11-2pm.

Things have calmed down around here a bit. Midterms are over with and the big photo jobs have been processed and sent out. Now it’s just getting ready for the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Show of hands, how many of you out there travel for the holidays? I try to avoid it whenever possible but I do like to spend time with family and since they all moved away from the area the only way I can see them is to travel. Luckily all of my immediate family, except one, live in Virginia. The rest are spread far and wide.

As promised, here are some great links to keep you surfing for hours…

The Bookbinding Etsy Street has a blog and they post information regularly. They recently posted a great list f links to paper sources on the web.

Check out the website of Cara Barer. Her photographs give a new meaning to the term “book art”.

Mel Jefferson has some photographs of some of the bindings that he has created on his site. There are some nice examples of the crossed structure binding.

The Society of Bookbinders features galleries of their members work. Definately worth a look.

The Colophon Page has lots of interesting artist’s books to look at as well as links to journals featuring information on artist’s books.

I hope everyone has a great day!
