Tuesday musings…

Filed under: Morning Musings — jackie @ 3:30 pm

Good afternoon readers.

My dogs and cats are my babies and I hate when one of them is hurt or sick because they can’t tell me what is wrong. You just know that they are not acting “normal” for them. My oldest dog Archie has something hurting in his shoulder area and needed to visit the vet. He’s on some pain meds and is quite relaxed right now. Hopefully he will feel better soon.

On to the book arts…

I love teaching book making classes but am finding it hard to fill up classes so most of the time they end up being canceled. I have taught classes as small as two students before. I’m not sure if it’s waning interest in learning handcrafts or the venues not publicizing them enough as it’s not just my classes that don’t fill up. All areas of the arts seem to be suffering. Are people just way too busy in their daily lives to do something for themselves?

I’m curious, for all you teachers out there, how are classes in your part of the country/world going?

Of note:

Here’s an interesting take on a traditional bookbinding tool…the Jordan-Dehoff Finishing Press for book workers

Green book arts revisited…Here is a great video from Treehugger.com on making green notebooks. These would make a great school fundraiser project.

I hope everyone has a great day…whatever’s left of it.
