Springback binding…

Filed under: Inspiration — jackie @ 4:40 pm

For those who are interested in learning how to do a binding in the Springback or account book style I found this video. It looks like it might be pretty good so I purchased it as an early birthday present to myself. I’ll give a full review of it after I recieve it and have a chance to view it. Probably in the next few weeks.

You can also find written instructions for the Springback binding here.

If you want to see some excellent examples of Springback bindings check out the online exhibit Spring (back) Hath Sprung over on the Book Arts Web. For some other great examples go here, here and for some wonderfully unique Springback bindings go here.

It’s May Day…

Filed under: General — jackie @ 10:15 am

Good morning readers.

Does everyone have thier maypole ready? Today is May Day. And of course you know what that also means…it’s the start of my birthday month! Yesterday was a busy day. I left the house early to drop of a friend off at the airport, then I met another friend for lunch and strawberry picking out in the country. That was fun. I haven’t picked strawberries since I was a kid.

Remember the mama duck and babies? Well I spent all morning chasing baby ducks to take down to the wildlife rehabilitator as mama somehow met an untimely end and was finished off by our resident hawk. I was able to wrangle up five of the six little ones. I wish I could of gotten them all but the last one is hiding way too well.  Maybe it will come out later.

Today is the start of my travel journal challenge. The challenge is to create journal with a travel themed cover. Just create a blank journal with the cover done in some type of theme that represents travel then post a photo of your book and a short description of your technique either on the Flickr site or on the forum on the Show and Tell board. The challenge will run through May 31. If you have any questions please feel free to shoot me an email.

I hope everyone has a great day.
